Pandora Jewellery is a national retailer of jewellery such as charms and bracelets, whose supply chain includes significant point of sale product distribution. Pandora import jewellery ranges from overseas suppliers for national distribution to Australian stores. Growth in range and volume had left Pandora requiring a larger site in Sydney.
Henderson Logistics were initially engaged to develop the concept design for a new national distribution centre with customer service offices, to house the combined jewellery and point of sale activities from the existing warehouses. Once a concept design was completed, Pandora selected a suitable site and Henderson’s provided the final design to installation quality for the operation and fit-out of the new 1,600 m2 warehouse and office complex.
This site can accommodate storage of pallets of point of sale materials plus long span storage of bulk jewellery items in a mix of four-high double-deep and selective racking. The jewellery store is protected by comprehensive physical and electronic security measures. In addition, a mezzanine office was constructed to house warehouse staff, IT infrastructure and records.
The detailed design was followed by the tender process for racking and equipment fit out, office building works and materials handling equipment. Henderson’s also project managed racking installation, building construction to BCA standard and council regulatory requirements including development certification and construction approvals. This also included relocation of existing equipment with consequent reduction in capital expenditure for set up of the new facility.
Pandora are now fully operational in their new distribution centre and have achieved significant benefits in operating performance.
